Yes, that's right, you get not only the "left-hand" monkey, famously depicted in many images of Elvis Presley's basement TV room (see images), but you get the "right-hand" one too. Both are in absolutely pristine condition, with the exception of one small surface irregularity atop one head (see image), easily fixed should you care to, but largely inconsequential if you don't. If you're looking at this listing, I'm sure you've read the story by now: songwriter Jorge Calderon owned a postcard that showed a picture of Elvis' legendary downstairs TV room, one of the first to have an array of TVs side by side.

On the coffee table was the now-famous porcelain Capuchin monkey, and it gave birth to a song: "Porcelain Monkey" with co-writer Warren Zevon, about Elvis' later fall from grace. One of the images in this listing shows Elvis' long-term girlfriend, Linda Thompson, sitting in the living room with one of these figurines at her side. These particular examples were treasured by a family in Southern California, and have just become available.

Check out the fine detailing on these pieces, in particular the charming paintwork around the face and eyes. The owners affixed felt protective pads to the bottom to prevent surface damage to the base. This is a matched set, with the numbers on the bottom reflecting that: S4324 for the one on the left, and S4234 for the one on the right.

"Italy" is also handwritten on the bottom. The measurements on these are approximately as follows: Height: 8.5. Base width: 6.5" Base depth: 6" T. Ail length, including curls approx.
