Mint (M): A new, unplayed record with perfect vinyl surfaces and a flawless cover. Vinyl: Shows no signs of wear, with only very minor, barely visible scuffs, or superficial sleeve rub. Cover: Appears nearly perfect, with no creases, seam splits, or other noticeable defects. Vinyl: Shows light signs of use, with slight scuffs or light scratches that do not significantly affect playback. Cover: May show light wear but remains in very good condition with no seam splits.
May have slight dry cracking at seams. Vinyl: Shows more noticeable signs of play than VG+. Surface noise, such as crackles or pops, may be present but should not overpower the music. A VG record should not skip due to groove wear, although dirt or debris may occasionally cause skipping until the record is properly cleaned. The surface may show scratches, including some that can be felt with a fingernail.
Cover: Shows normal wear from use, including ring wear, edge wear, or minor seam splits. Good (G) / Good Plus (G+). Vinyl: Plays through but may skip and will have significant surface noise, visible groove wear, scratches, and possibly a slight warp that may affect playback. Cover: May have seam splits (especially along the bottom edge), writing, tape, or other noticeable damage. Fair (F) / Poor (P).
Vinyl: Cracked, badly warped, or skips extensively. Playback is significantly affected or may be impossible. Cover: Heavily damaged with tears, tape, heavy writing, or missing sections. Packed securely in sturdy cardboard LP mailers.
