It is the first of five "Golden Records" volumes and features 14 tracks that defined the birth of Rock & Roll. The album captures Elvis at the height of his "King of Rock and Roll" era, including legendary tracks like "Hound Dog, " "Heartbreak Hotel, " and Jailhouse Rock. This was the first "Greatest Hits" style album in Elvis's career. The liner notes on the back cover provide a detailed history of the recording sessions for each hit, written by Anne Fulchino. It is identified by the black RCA Victor "Long Play" label featuring the "Nipper" dog at the top and the "New Orthophonic" High Fidelity branding.
