Orig/Rare Movie Costume Design Sketch: Elvis Presley Tragic Co-Star JUDY TYLER. It a 1956/1957 pencil and watercolor sketch from a Paula Giotaris costume design for Judy's first film BOP GIRL GOES CALYPSO.

Judy only made two films, starring in both. Bop Girl was her debute and then she was Elvis' leading lady in JAILHOUSE ROCK at the age of 24. A few days after she finished filming--before the film was ever released, Judy and her husband were driving back home to New York and were both killed in a tragic car crash.

Elvis said at the time that he had never been so upset by anything in his life. Judy's dad was a trumpeter with bands such as Paul Whiteman and Benny Goodman. Her mother was a Ziegfield Follies Dancer. Judy studied ballet, music and acting, and won a "Miss Stardust" beauty contest in 1949.

She danced with the Copacabana chorus line and was making bit appearances on television while still in high school. At age 17, she landed the part of Princess Summerfall Winterspring on THE HOWDY DOODY SHOW and stayed for 2 years. Afterwards she was "rediscovered" in the 1956 play "Pipe Dream" which landed her on the cover of LIFE magazine. She was certainly full of promise when she was so tragically taken. This sketch is on illustration board and is 20" X 15" and again from the United Artists 1957 film BOP GIRL GOES CALYPSO which Judy starred in.

Paula Giortaris is credited with being Judy Tyler's designer for that film. The illustration board has some wear and smudges and a scratches as seen in the photos. This is a rare opportunity to have an original piece of film memorabilia from an actress that was very near and dear to Elvis Presley and a true talent in her own right.
